The unit combines the ignition coil and CDI control unit in one housing, as installed by Piaggio on 50cc models with a factory catalytic converter. It controls the ignition timing and provides the high voltage for the spark plug. Misfires, starting problems, or rough running are often due to a defective ignition coil or CDI and can only be remedied by replacing the entire unit.

Before ordering, compare the original part with the product image, as there are model-specific designs. Replacement takes about half an hour with a hex key set and socket wrench for the mounting bolts.
